Media Advisory - Local kids play pond hockey with the Edmonton Oil Kings
For Immediate Release
Sherwood Park
02 Mar 2009

Members of the media are invited to attend an ENMAX Energy Pond Hockey game featuring the Edmonton Oil Kings and Sherwood Park minor hockey teams the Atom Barracudas and the Atom Shockers.

“Pond Hockey by ENMAX Energy” brings mentors and hockey celebrities into Alberta communities, creates memories and helps keep the Canadian winter tradition of pond hockey strong.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Pond Hockey by ENMAX Energy matches Atom level players, aged nine to 10, with their local heroes from the Western Hockey League for a short skill drill session and a game of shinny.

Since the program began in 1999, more than 3,700 kids from across the province have participated in Pond Hockey by ENMAX Energy. This year, the program expects to reach over 1,000 young hockey stars!

ENMAX Energy relies on its strong relationships with junior hockey teams and communities to make these memorable events happen. Players from the Calgary Hitmen, Edmonton Oil Kings, Red Deer Rebels and Lethbridge Hurricanes will make special appearances in the Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer and Lethbridge communities during the 2008/2009 season.
