For Immediate Release
Calgary
20 Mar 2007

ENMAX Corporation is pleased to announce their participation in a new strategic partnership with NaiKun Wind Energy Group of Vancouver, in the development of a new windfarm off the coast of British Columbia.

According to Ken Willis, Executive Vice-President for ENMAX Corporation, “ENMAX brings extensive experience to this project. This is a unique development opportunity that gives us the ability to leverage our expertise in wind development, to continue to build our commitment to sustainable sources of energy, and to capitalize on the potential opportunities that the BC government’s new energy policy presents”.

With the full support of the Haida Gwaii, the NaiKun Offshore Windfarm is currently in the initial phases of development, with a Phase One completion slated for 2010/2011. When complete, Phase One of the operation will generate 320 MW of wind power.

Questions & Answers

Why is ENMAX involved in this project??
Bringing ENMAX expertise to bear in the development of this project is a natural fit for the company. The projects aligns with our corporate strategy in many respects; it is environmentally-friendly, it focuses in one of our core areas of expertise – wind power, and it takes advantage of our extensive experience in energy generation and transmission.

Why did ENMAX select this project?
The Alberta and B.C. power systems are well-connected and have a history of co-operation in energy development. ENMAX is already involved in five green power generation projects in B.C.; two run-of-river hydro projects on the Clowhom River, two energy recovery generators along Duke Energy’s Southern Mainline gas pipeline, and the Furry Creek run-of-river hydroelectric facility.

How does this fit into the BC government’s new energy policy?
The BC government is focusing on attaining energy self-sufficiency for the province and has made a commitment to the competitive procurement of renewable energy to achieve that goal. The Naikun project is consistent with this policy.

ENMAX Corporation and its predecessors have provided Albertans with safe and reliable electricity for 100 years. ENMAX provides electricity, natural gas, renewable energy and value-added services to residential, commercial and industrial customers in Alberta through its subsidiary companies. ENMAX Energy is one of Alberta's largest investors in renewable energy assets with 100 per cent ownership of output from the McBride Lake Wind Farm and Taber Wind Farm and has interests in four British Columbia green energy projects. ENMAX Energy has the largest green power marketing program of its kind in Canada and in 2006 received the Consumer Champion Award for its ground-breaking EasyMaxTM program.
