Albertans have six days left to secure EasyMax’s® 7.0 cent electricity rate before 14% increase
For Immediate Release
Calgary
25 Jun 2007

The fixed electricity price for ENMAX Energy’s EasyMax plan will rise 14 percent to eight cents per kWh on the 1st of July, with a further increase likely by the end of the year.

“We remain committed to offering Albertans the lowest prices for electricity”, explained Gary Holden, CEO of ENMAX Energy, “but costs have risen steadily since we introduced the EasyMax program, and this is reflected in our new rate.”

“We anticipate this trend to continue and so the longer people wait to choose EasyMax, the more expensive it is likely to get”, continued Holden.  “Those who signed early have benefited from our prices, which have been much lower than their alternatives and we expect those who sign now will similarly benefit”.

Other features of the popular EasyMax program for residential and small commercial customers will continue:

• Customers can cancel or change their plan at any time without paying any penalties. This feature allows customers to confidently lock in their electricity price without fear of making a mistake.

• Customers who combine natural gas with their electricity purchase can receive additional savings of up to $500 over the five-year life of the plan, which can be used to reduce their bill or to purchase additional products or services from ENMAX Energy.

ENMAX Energy Corporation, a subsidiary of ENMAX Corporation, is Alberta’s leading competitive electricity retailer. In addition to electricity, ENMAX Energy provides natural gas, renewable energy and value-added services to residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout Alberta. ENMAX Energy contracts low-cost reliable electricity from the Keephills and Battle River coal-fired plants and meets peak demand through a long term agreement with the natural gas fired Calgary Energy Centre. Through a subsidiary, it is one of Alberta’s largest investors in renewable energy with 50 per cent ownership of the McBride Lake Wind Farm and 100 per cent ownership of the Taber Wind Farm. ENMAX Energy has the largest green power marketing program of its kind in Canada and in 2006, received the Consumer Champion Award for its ground-breaking EasyMax® program.
