ENMAX Energy has answer to rising energy costs for Albertans
For Immediate Release
Alberta
6 September 2006

ENMAX Energy Corporation has a solution for residential customers concerned about rising energy costs. EasyMax from ENMAX Energy, provides the lowest fixed electricity rate in the province, flexible options, stability and savings.

In September the regulated electricity rates in the province rose again and now range from 7.5 cents a kilowatt hour (kWh) in Red Deer to 8.8 cents a kWh in Lethbridge. (Calgary 7.8 cents/kWh ; Edmonton 7.6 cents/kWh; Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray 8.1 cents/kWh).  Households and small businesses pay this regulated price if they haven’t chosen an energy plan from a retailer, such as ENMAX Energy.

EasyMax offers a fixed electricity rate of 7.0 cents a kWh for five years with no hidden fees or cancellation penalties. Also, if customers combine their electricity and natural gas with EasyMax, they will receive an extra $100 in EasyMax Savings each year.

“Customers are realizing that doing nothing will cost them money,” said Gary Holden, President and CEO, ENMAX Energy Corporation. “We want to make signing up an easy process so they can save money with no strings attached.”

ENMAX Energy is undertaking an extensive advertising campaign throughout the province to explain these benefits to customers. As well, to help customers manage potentially rising natural gas costs, the company will introduce secure long-term fixed gas plans in October.

ENMAX Energy Corporation, a subsidiary of ENMAX Corporation, is Alberta’s leading competitive electricity retailer. In addition to electricity, ENMAX Energy provides natural gas, renewable energy and value-added services to residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout Alberta. ENMAX Energy procures low-cost electricity from the Keephills and Battle River coal-fired plants and, through a subsidiary, is one of Alberta’s largest investors in renewable energy with 50 per cent ownership of the McBride Lake Wind Farm and 100 per cent ownership of the Taber Wind Farm. ENMAX Energy has the largest green power marketing program of its kind in Canada and in 2006, received the Consumer Champion Award for its ground-breaking EasyMaxTM program.
