ENMAX Corporation today announced it has applied to the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) for its 2005/2006 Distribution Tariff (DT) and 2005 Regulated Rate Tariff (RRT) for consumers within The City of Calgary.
If the rate applications are approved by the EUB as submitted, typical monthly residential bills (based on consumption of 625 kilowatt hours) in 2005 would increase by one per cent or approximately 70 cents to $69.00 compared to December 2004 totals of $68.30.
“We will work with the EUB to complete the public process of the applications and do not anticipate a decision from them until the latter half of 2005,” said Allan Buchignani, interim president and chief executive officer, ENMAX Corporation.
The 2005/2006 DT application sets out the revenue ENMAX Power requires to operate and maintain the distribution system within The City of Calgary. It also includes the system access charges ENMAX Power pays to the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) for use of the provincial transmission system. The 2005/2006 DT application includes no increase in 2005 rates, and a three per cent increase for 2006. The 2006 increase reflects higher operating and capital requirements to maintain a safe, reliable, cost-effective system.
The RRT is a regulated rate that ENMAX Energy provides to residential, farm and small commercial customers who use less than 250,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year. The increase in 2005 RRT application reflects a request for a six percent margin.
ENMAX Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The City of Calgary, provides electricity, renewable energy, natural gas and value-added services to more than 420,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Alberta through its subsidiary companies.
