EUB Finalizes ENMAX 2004 Electricity Tariffs
For Immediate Release
Calgary
29 Sep 2004

ENMAX Corporation today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, ENMAX Power Corporation has received final approval from the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) for its Distribution Tariff (DT) and administrative portion of 2004 Regulated Rate Tariff (RRT) for electricity customers in the Calgary area.

The EUB’s final decisions on 2004 tariffs are consistent with what was previously announced in August of this year.  The new tariffs will be in effect November 1, 2004.

The difference between the interim tariffs in place January 1, 2004, and the final tariffs in place November 1, 2004, will result in a refund for customers. Both interim and final rates are set by the EUB. The EUB is expected to rule on the amount and method of this refund on October 19, 2004.

“This was the first year ENMAX was required to apply for approval of DT and RRT rates through the EUB and inevitably all involved have learned a great deal,” said Al Buchignani, President and Chief Operating Officer, ENMAX Power. “The EUB is a thorough and rigorous regulator and we look forward to continuing working with them in the future.”

The new tariffs result in a typical residential bill, based on average monthly consumption of 625 kWh, decreasing by $3.30 from the current average of $75 per month to $72. In addition, ENMAX has proposed to the EUB a refund rider that would reduce a typical residential bill by a further $2.50 per month over a 12-month period, beginning with November bills.  The EUB is expected to rule on the amount and method of this refund on October 19.

The EUB is now responsible for regulating the DT and RRT rates for customers within the ENMAX service territory.

ENMAX, a wholly owned subsidiary of The City of Calgary, provides electricity, natural gas and value-added services to more than 420,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Alberta through its subsidiaries. For more information, please visit our website at enmax.com.
