ENMAX Energy Corporation is warning residential consumers to be wary of door-to-door salesmen who represent themselves as ENMAX employees.
“We’ve been getting increasing reports about unscrupulous sales people coming to customers’ homes and misrepresenting themselves as agents of ENMAX. We want to be perfectly clear to everyone that ENMAX does not employ door-to-door sales people in the residential consumer market, nor have we for several years,” said ENMAX President and CEO Gary Holden. “Anyone representing themselves this way most certainly does not have the customer’s interest at heart”.
The company pointed out that sales personnel go door-to-door in the small business and commercial markets, but that no residential households are part of that program.
Over the past several months, ENMAX has been made aware of several customer complaints regarding door-to-door sales. Most recently, these individuals have presented fraudulent identification that identifies them as employees of ENMAX.
“We feel it’s important for customers to be aware of this situation, so they can be forewarned,” remarked Vice President of Public Affairs Peter Hunt. “We want people to know that ENMAX does not send sales people to Albertan households. Every Alberta resident should also be sure not to sign any kind of agreement in haste or without thoroughly checking out the company they are contracting with and the plans and options available to them.”
Customers are encouraged to report any such occurrences to the Alberta Utilities Consumer Advocate at www.ucahelps.gov.ab.ca.
