Media Advisory - Local kids score big chance to play Pond Hockey with the big boys
For Immediate Release
Calgary
07 Jan 2010

Media are invited to get the ‘shinny’ on the next ENMAX Energy Pond Hockey game on Sunday, January 10. Pond hockey is a great Canadian tradition that brings to mind chilly days, hot chocolate and good old fashioned fun. Once again, ENMAX Energy has teamed up with some of Alberta’s best hockey teams to make dreams come true. Kids enrolled in Atom level hockey will step on the ice with their local heroes for this favourite wintery pastime.

Pond Hockey by ENMAX Energy brings mentors and hockey celebrities into Alberta communities, creates memories and helps keep the tradition of pond hockey strong. Celebrating its eleventh year, players aged 9 and 10 are paired with their local heroes from the WHL and NHL for a short skill drill session and a game of shinny.

Since 1999, more than 4,200 kids from across the province have participated in Pond Hockey by ENMAX Energy.

Players from the Calgary Flames, Calgary Hitmen, Edmonton Oil Kings, Red Deer Rebels and Lethbridge Hurricanes will make special appearances throughout Alberta during the 2009/2010 season.

The next game will feature WHL team, the Calgary Hitmen and Atom minor hockey league teams.
