The Bonnybrook Energy Centre Project will offer a number of benefits including:

• a reliable, cost-effective source of new electricity supply for southern Alberta
• lower electricity costs through reduction of exposure to volatile energy markets for ENMAX Energy retail customers
• reduction of line losses and associated greenhouse gas emissions from long distance transmission lines by locating electrical generation close to customer demand
• enhancement of local and regional reliability of power supply
• creation of construction and operations jobs
• removal of a wastewater storage lagoon from an industrial site
• utilization of wastewater from the Canada Malting facility instead of using fresh water
