Construction
Construction of the Crossfield Energy Centre is scheduled to commence the week of October 13th and the facility is anticipated to be in operation the winter of 2009.
Washington Group Northern Ltd., a subsidiary of the Washington Division of URS Corporation, has been awarded the contract to provide the engineering, procurement, construction and startup services for the development and execution of the project. Washington Group provides engineering, construction, and management solutions to businesses and governments worldwide. Its primary areas of expertise are: infrastructure, mining, industrial/process, energy & environment, and power.
Washington Group will select Alberta-based contractors to participate in the project. There have been many inquiries from companies or individuals expressing an interest in supplying products or services for the project. Local qualified businesses will be given equal opportunity to participate in the supply of labour, materials and equipment.

Regulatory Approvals
On June 6th, the Crossfield Energy Centre received conditional approval of its facility application from the Alberta Utilities Commission. This was followed by Alberta Environment’s approval on June 17th. Both of these approvals can be viewed under the Important Documents section.
Environmental Results
Air quality and noise impact assessments are complete. The final reports are available for viewing under the Environment section.
