Our Company

ENMAX is Alberta's leading energy distribution, supply and services provider. What we do every day makes a meaningful contribution to the more than 600,000 residential, commercial and industrial customer locations we serve, which rely on us for reliable, cost-competitive electricity, natural gas, and other value-added services.

Our company is wholly owned by The City of Calgary, has 1,245 employees and in 2007, generated revenues of more than $2.1 billion.

ENMAX has more than a century of experience meeting the energy needs of Albertans. Today, we're continuing to develop and deliver a suite of cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions that balance our need to meet increasing demand for our products and services with environmental responsibility, innovation and customer-enabling technologies.

Letter from Gary Holden

Thank you for interest in ENMAX. We're pleased to be able to share our first sustainability report with you, which highlights our commitment, contributions and progress on the three tenets of sustainability - economic growth, environmental protection and societal responsibility.

As you click through these screens, we'd like you to think about the electricity that is powering your computer right now. Where did it come from? What resources were involved in creating it? How many people worked to ensure it was reliable and safe? What did it cost? What impact will it make in environmental terms? And, most importantly, what can you do to reduce that impact?

Those are the same questions that we at ENMAX work on every day. And inside this report, you'll find solid evidence that we're finding answers that are making an important difference to the quality of life we as Albertans enjoy and to the environmental future we all share.

Our online sustainability report is organized into four key sections: Our Company, Our People, Our Economic Impact and Our Focus on Environment. Each provides a concise snapshot of where ENMAX is today and - where information is currently available - how we align with G3 Global Reporting Initiative standards. And we're working to integrate new data reporting standards internally so that future sustainability reports will be even more comprehensive and transparent.

At ENMAX, we look to the future with optimism. We continue to set records for the electricity and natural gas volumes we deliver and for the revenues we earn for our products and services. We generate millions of dollars of economic benefit for Albertans by helping keep electricity prices low. Safe, reliable, competitively priced electricity is fundamental to economic growth and our ability to continue attracting new business and development to our province.

We continue to evaluate an array of new energy technologies that have the potential to fundamentally change and improve the way customers consume energy. We maintain high environmental standards and continually work to minimize our impact, while maximizing our renewable capacity. We are the province's leading source of wind power and are building a growing portfolio of clean, renewable energy sources, including run of river hydro projects, solar, and more gas-based generation.

And while we're pursuing these goals, we're doing so as good neighbours, as an innovative and respected employer, trusted business partner and community supporter. We invite you to find out more, and share any comments or questions with us at CR@enmax.com

Sincerely,

Gary R. Holden
