Sustaining Power Service

In 2007, ENMAX Power delivered record-setting volumes of electricity to more customers than at any time in our company's history, while continuing to achieve top quartile performance for reliability.

The two key measurements used by the Canadian Electricity Association to measure the reliability of a utility are SAIFI, which stands for system average interruption frequency index and SAIDI, which means system average duration frequency index. The first measures the number of interruptions to power service and the second calculates the length of each interruption.

For the second consecutive year, ENMAX Power's system reliability earned a top performer ranking among urban utilities reporting to the CEA.

ENMAX's strong record of investment in advanced distribution automation technologies over the past five years has steadily enhanced our overall electricity system performance. Through the installation of automated switches at key feeders, we have prevented sustained power interruptions to more than 90,000 customers and reduced potential customer interruption minutes by 6.4 million.
