In 2007, ENMAX Energy Corporation sold cost-competitive electricity, natural gas, renewable energy and value-added services to more than 600,000 residential, commercial and industrial metered customer locations. More than 260,000 electricity and natural gas customers have chosen the EasyMax® program through the end of 2007 and more than 75% of these electricity customers are choosing to sign five-year fixed rate contracts for electricity.

The consistent and enthusiastic growth in our customer base throughout the year is largely attributable to ENMAX's strategy of being the reliable, low-cost electricity and natural gas supplier of choice. Customer response to our EasyMax program continues unabated.

Competitive Rates & Reliability

Through the EasyMax® program, ENMAX Energy has consistently offered products to meet consumers' needs for economy and flexibility. ENMAX Energy offers Albertans the lowest fixed electricity price* for residential and small commercial businesses in the province. ENMAX Energy announced an EasyMax rate increase to eight cents per kWh from seven cents in July 2007. Despite the increase, the EasyMax program continues to enjoy enthusiastic customer response. Fixed or floating price natural gas options based on current market rates are also available.

The commercial and institutional market segment has embraced deregulation within the Alberta electricity market, with approximately 17 licensed retailers competing for customers. ENMAX Energy's Commercial and Institutional team offers a full suite of innovative and risk-differentiated energy products, including electricity, natural gas, renewable energy, and energy management services. More than 17,500 electricity and natural gas C&I customer sites were served by ENMAX Energy at year-end 2007. These customers can choose between an index rate, which is a flow-through of spot market prices for electricity and natural gas, or a fixed price contract.  The majority of ENMAX's large C&I customers have entered into contracts for periods greater than four years.
