Procurement
At ENMAX, we understand how and what we purchase not only affects our business, but the customers and communities we serve. ENMAX's Principles of Business Ethics provides a framework to ensure we operate ethically and with integrity in purchasing goods and services and conducting business with our suppliers. Economic, safety and environmental considerations in our supplier selection and evaluation processes are guided by our Purchasing Policy.
ENMAX supports the development of local suppliers in the markets we serve. In 2009, 55% of the goods and services purchased were from Alberta and British Columbia suppliers. Although our purchasing portfolio has expanded to purchase specialized generation equipment, which is typically obtained from trans-border and international manufacturers, our overall spend with Canadian suppliers was 68%.
