Environmental Management System EMS

ENMAX has developed an Environmental Management System (EMS) that adheres to the 17 principles of the ISO 14001 EMS Standard, which is internationally recognized.

As part of the EMS development process ENMAX has identified its main environmental aspects (risks or issues) and has set objectives, targets and programs to reduce any potential environmental impact. The programs we've developed address the following environmental issues:

  • Management of Leaks and Spills
  • Wildlife disturbance
  • Working around water bodies
  • Air Quality Management
  • Hazardous Waste Management
  • Non-hazardous Waste Management
  • Land and Facility Management
  • Material Consumption (or 'environmentally friendly purchasing')

These programs help us improve our environmental performance. We are committed to decreasing our potential impact on the environment.
