ENMAX has strong relationships with its shareholder. To ensure regular two way information flow is maintained, ENMAX executive and board of directors meet with the shareholder’s representative, Calgary City Council, formally each year in a public forum. Two members of Council serve on the board. Currently, Alderman Bob Hawkesworth and Alderman Gord Lowe are Council’s representatives on the board. Throughout the year, several informal meetings between ENMAX and members of Council are also held.
In keeping with Council’s policy on in-depth reviews of ENMAX’s potential commercial activity greater than $30 million, meetings are held with Council when these opportunities arise.
In addition, there are many agreements and contracts in place with The City of Calgary. Street light maintenance, LRT construction and providing renewable energy to power the LRT system and other City operations are just a few of the collaborative projects between The City and ENMAX.
